Chilean International, Alexis Sanchez who was iwidely expected to leave the Emirates in the summer on a free transfer unless one of his many suitors makes a big money move to sign him in January.
Manchester City were on the verge of securing his signature on deadline day back in August only for a deal to fall through in the closing hours.
The Sunday Times claim that the Chilean had agreed a new contract with Arsenal late last year and even went as far as to shake hands with key officials to assure them that he was happy to extend his stay at the Emirates.
Yet after watching his team fall apart at home and away to Bayern the 29-year-old changed his view and decided he had to leave the Gunners to find success elsewhere, and was determined to be reunited with Guardiola at Manchester City.
In three seasons at Barcelona, Sanchez scored 47 goals in 141 games and lifted the Copa Del Rey and Club World Cup playing for the Catalan among other lesser honours. His only league title in Spain came in 2013 under Tito Vilanova.
The former Udinese forward is unlikely to end his wait for an English title this season with Arsenal fighting for a place in the top four rather than the top spot.
