While Burna Boy, the Grammy Award-winning artist, received four nominations overall, Davido received three in his first taste.
Olamide, Arya Starr, and Asake each received one nomination.
Together with Tyla of South Africa, the Nigerian quartet was nominated for the first-ever Best African Music Performance category.
In the recently established category, the nominees were Tyla’s “Water,” Burna Boy’s “City Boys,” Ayra Starr’s “Rush,” Davido and Musa Keys’ “Unavailable,” and Asake and Olamide’s “Amapiano.”
Other nominations for Burna Boy include Best Melodic Rap for “Sitting On Top of the World” with 21 Savage, Best Global Music Album for “I Told Them,” and Best Global Music Performance for “Alone.”
Two more nominations for Davido are for Best Global Music Performance and Best Global Music Album, respectively, for “Timeless.”
