Alphonso Davies and girlfriend Jordyn Huitema could make history in becoming the first couple to win the men’s and women’s Champions League in the same season.
Roadrunner/left-back Davies has been an integral part of the Bayern Munich side that are on the hunt for a stunning treble when they take on Paris Saint-Germain in Sunday’s final in Lisbon.
But incidentally his other half Huitema, also from Vancouver in Canada, plays for the PSG women’s outfit and she too could taste European glory in the month of August.
Her PSG side take on Arsenal in the quarter final on Saturday at the Anoeta Stadium in San Sebastian, with a victory setting up a semi-final showdown with the winner of the game between Lyon and Bayern Munich – who are of course Davies’ employers.
The women’s Champions League final takes place at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao on Sunday 30 August.
To simplify it, a total of four wins – one from Davies’ Bayern and three from Huitema’s PSG, losing finalists in 2015 and 2017, will see them become a truly unprecedented power couple within football.
The pair have been together since they were 16 and both won Canada’s Under 17 Player of the Year award in 2017 before going on to bigger and better things in their careers.
Here’s hoping they’ve got room for both medals on the mantelpiece if it all goes to plan…
