Anambra Police Station Set Ablaze, Prisoners Freed By Hoodlums

A police station in Ajali, Orumba North Local Government Area of
Anambra State, was set ablaze by some hoodlums on Thursday morning,
February 14th. The hoodlums also set free some prisoners after beating
up some police officers, reports have claimed.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed in a
statement released, however denied the act was carried out by hoodlums.
According to Mohammed, there was a fire outbreak in the station.
It’s a case of fire incident for now until the contrary is proved
through discreet investigation. The Commissioner of Police, Mustapha
Dandaura is presently at the scene for on the spot assessment. He
ordered the DC Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence
Department to conduct a thorough investigation in order to ascertain
circumstances surrounding the incident.” he said
He however did not confirm if some of the prisoners were set free.
