APC crisis deepens as Dogara, senators sue Oyegun
OrderPaperToday – The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and nine others including two APC senators from Bauchi state have sued the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, over the conduct of ward and local government congresses of the party in the state.
The Senators are Sulaiman Nazif (Bauch North) and Isa Hammah Misau (Bauchi Central). Some of the other plaintiffs are Muhammad Muhammad; Dr. Ibrahim Yakubu Lame; Ibrahim Zailani; Yusuf M. Tuggar and Mohammed Bala Jibrin, a gubernatorial aspirant.
The defendants are the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun; National Secretary of the APC; Bauchi State Chairman of APC; Dr. Tony Macfoy; and Sam Para.
The plaintiffs alleged that the conduct of the congresses was a violation of APC’s constitution and congress guidelines. They asked the court to halt the state congress of the party on account of the pending suit.
The applicants also sought for an order restraining the persons who were declared as winners after the wards and local government congresses held on the 5th and 12th of May, 2018 respectively from parading themselves as executive officers/delegates of the 1st defendant (APC).
According to the suit filed by A.U. Mustapha (SAN), Dogara and co. alleged that the results of the ward and local government congresses were “cooked up”.
Meanwhile, the Yakubu Dogara-led faction of the APC boycotted the state congress of the party that held today in Bauchi.
