Ariana Grande: Music and Exes

In the first verse of “thank you, next”, the lyrics said “Thought I’d end up with Sean / But he wasn’t a match / Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh / Even almost got married / And for Pete, I’m so thankful / Wish I could say ‘thank you’ to Malcolm / ‘Cause he was an angel.”

On Twitter, a fan joked about the words of the song  saying that two of Ariana’s exes might be surprised to hear their names dropped in the track but Ariana responded by saying  “They heard it before it came out.” Although, none of Ariana’s exes has commented on the song- thank you, next.

According to Ariana Grande, Ricky Alvarez and Big Sean each got to listen to “thank u, next” early.

At the MTV European Music Awards Sunday, Camila Cabello commented on Ariana’s track saying that “I love that she’s just going for happiness. I love her. She’s been nothing but an incredible friend to me,”

After “thank u, next,” shot to the top of the iTunes charts on Sunday, Ariana expressed her gratitude via Twitter to her 58.7 million followers.

However, Pete did not address Ariana’s new song on SNL, but he did say that “I know some of you are curious about the breakup, but the truth is, it’s nobody’s business and sometimes things just don’t work out, and that’s okay. She’s a wonderful, strong person, and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world.”
