Chelsea FC star and Australia women’s national team captain, Sam Kerr, has entered a plea of not guilty to a charge of a “racially aggravated offense” against a police officer, as confirmed by British authorities on Monday.
The 30-year-old striker faces the charge stemming from an incident involving an officer on January 30 last year in Twickenham, a suburb located in southwest London.
Kerr was formally charged “via postal charge requisition on 21 January with a racially aggravated offense under Section 4A Public Order Act 1986,” as stated by the Metropolitan Police.
According to the Metropolitan Police, Kerr is slated to make her next appearance at Wimbledon Magistrates Court on 1 February 2025.
Hailing from Perth, the soccer sensation joined Chelsea in 2019, catalyzing the team’s ascent to becoming the premier women’s club in the nation. During her four seasons in London, she played an instrumental role in securing four consecutive Women’s Super League (WSL) titles, three FA Cups, and two League Cups for the club.
Kerr’s impact transcends mere accolades; her on-field prowess is evident in her impressive record of 99 goals scored in 128 matches since joining Chelsea.
