Chris Brown Denies Owning Pet Monkey
The RnB singer has shut down the allegations that he illegally harboured the pet.
It would be recalled that we reported that the L.A. City Attorney is charging Brown with two counts of having a restricted species without a permit claiming he kept a capuchin monkey named Fiji at his L.A. home back in 2017.
The suit stemmed from Brown’s daughter, Royalty playing with Fiji in December 2017 but TMZ reports that sources close to the “Heartbreak on a Full Moon” crooner say prosecutors got it all wrong.
If convicted, the Grammy award-winning singer could face up to 6 months in jail if convicted.
Brown is adamant the video was not taken at his L.A. home but was shot in Vegas where the monkey lived with a relative who was the real owner.
However, authorities are not buying the excuse noting the animal was taken into custody in Los Angeles.
Brown is due in court on February 6 where he will plead his case to the judge.
