Cristiano Ronaldo received a red card for elbowing an opponent during Al-Nassr‘s loss to Al-Hilal in the semifinals of the Saudi Super Cup.
The altercation took place towards the end of Monday’s match in Abu Dhabi, when the Portuguese forward clashed with Al-Hilal‘s Ali Al-Bulayhi during stoppage time in the second half.
Ronaldo was immediately sent off for striking Al-Bulayhi with his elbow in the chest and throat area, followed by what seemed to be a threatening gesture towards the referee.
This incident isn’t the first time the 39-year-old has faced disciplinary problems since joining Saudi Arabia. Earlier this year, he received a one-match suspension and a fine for making a provocative gesture with his groin towards spectators during a Saudi Pro League (SPL) game.
