Despite Chaotic Congresses, APC Will Win In 2019 – Rep
OrderPaperToday – The lawmaker representing Mubi North/Mubi South/Maiha federal constituency of Adamawa State, Abdulrahman Shuaibu, has said that the violence and misconduct at the recently concluded All Progressive Congress (APC) party ward congress was expected.
Nonetheless the ruling party at the centre will still win the 2019 general elections, he submitted in a chat with OrderPaperNG.
According to him, the chaotic congresses ensued because everybody wants to take control of the Party structures as the 2019 general elections draw closer and no one wants to lose out of the primaries for fear of being edged out of the general contest.
“People still feel strongly that the APC is that Party that will win elections so everybody wants to control the party structures, which seems to be the genesis of the violence,” he remarked.
He revealed that there was no violence or killings recorded in his own State, but some people protested against losing the elections, which is normal.
Mr. Shuaibu went on to note that the crisis would not affect the overall performance of the Party in the forthcoming elections, as he is confident the Party will pull through. However, he highlighted his expectations that there will be a mass exodus of people from the Party but this will be countered by an influx of aggrieved politicians from other Political Parties in the country.
“You see, in Nigeria, we know the trend. People who lose elections won’t definitely defect to other Political Parties, however, we expect more defects than decamps because people defect to the winning party.
“Insha Allah, the APC will win and we will continue to grow even though there are a lot of people saying that we are not seeing the change. But those of us living in Abuja, here, can testify that a lot has been done in the area of security and infrastructure.”
