Saleh Idris, the party chairman in Roni Local Government Area, has been suspended by the Jigawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress due to accusations that he sexually assaulted and impregnated his 14-year-old housemaid.
This was said in a statement provided to the media and signed by Aminu Sani Gumel, the state chairman.
Idris was placed under remand following an allegation made by a Chief Magistrate’s Court in the state capital of Dutse.
According to reports, on October 4, Idris was taken into custody by the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps after the victim’s brother filed a complaint.
Adamu Shehu, the state spokesperson for the NSCDC, also verified in a statement that the juvenile was carrying “a healthy pregnancy of about four months and two weeks” following a lab test.
The deputy chairman of the local government area was also instructed by the party to take over the party’s affairs.
