Manchester City began its English Premier League title defense with a 2-0 victory over Chelsea on Sunday. Unsurprisingly, it was superstar Erling Haaland who opened the scoring, bringing his tally to 91 goals in 100 appearances for the club. The Norwegian striker powered past Chelsea’s defenders and deftly chipped the
ball over the onrushing goalkeeper, giving the visitors an 18th-minute lead.
Mateo Kovačić sealed the win in the 84th minute with a long-range strike, as City secured the victory despite lacking some of its usual fluidity.
