At last, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Plateau North Hon. Istifanus Dung Gyang, winner of Plateau North senatorial election.
Gyang, who is currently the member representing
Barkin-Ladi/Riyom Federal constituency of Plateau State in the House of
Representatives polled 269, 555 votes to defeat Hon. Rufus Bature, the
candidate of APC who scored 171233 votes.
The result which was
declared amidst tight security by Professor Christopher Vande, the
Returning Officer for the district, said Istifanus Gyang of the PDP
scored the highest vote and was declared elected.
Meanwhile,
Prof. Francis Kwese, a returning officer for National Assembly election
from Jos North has declared the election for Bassa/Jos North federal
constituency inconclusive following the cancellation of election results
from Tudun-Wada/ Kabong ward.
He said APC scored 114, 705 votes while PDP 89, 262 votes. He said: “The election is declared inconclusive becauseTudun-Wada/ Kabong ward results were canceled hence a re-run will be scheduled by INEC at a later date.
