“I carried you…” – Mother explodes over ₦200 money bouquet from daughter’s suitor

Drama erupted online after a young Nigerian lady shared a money bouquet made of ₦200 notes she received from a suitor who asked her to be his girlfriend.
In the viral TikTok video, the excited lady sent a clip of the bouquet to her mother, hoping to share the moment. However, her mother’s reaction took a completely unexpected turn and has since gone viral.
During the recorded call, the mother could be heard expressing disappointment, saying:
“I carried you for nine months, nine good months in my womb. I can’t eat ₦200 as the fruit of my labour.
Didn’t you see dollars? $100, $100 dollars? Didn’t you see Iyabo Ojo’s daughter, Priscilla? Look at how happy her mother was, look at how everyone was happy!”
She went on to question her daughter’s excitement over what she described as a small gesture.
“This person is now telling you to be his girlfriend, and you’re shouting like a mad woman because of ₦200 bouquet. What have I done wrong to deserve this?”
The clip has sparked widespread reactions online, with many netizens finding the mother’s blunt comparison to actress Iyabo Ojo’s daughter, Priscilla, both shocking and amusing.
While some users criticised the mother, arguing that gifts should be about thoughtfulness and intention rather than monetary value, others defended her stance.
A commentator wrote, “I’m ashamed on behalf of your mother.” Another said, “She only wants a better life for her daughter, nothing more.”
