Lazio has appointed Croatian Igor Tudor as their new manager following the resignation of Maurizio Sarri. Sarri, aged 65, stepped down from his role on Wednesday after the team suffered their fifth defeat in six games.
Giovanni Martusciello, the assistant coach, assumed temporary leadership for Saturday’s 3-2 victory against Frosinone. Tudor, aged 45, brings experience from his time with Marseille last season, where he secured a third-place finish in Ligue 1. He has previously managed Udinese and Hellas Verona in Serie A and also played for Juventus from 1998 to 2007.
Tudor’s managerial debut for Lazio is scheduled for March 30th when they host Juventus. Currently positioned ninth in Serie A, Lazio trails by four points for the European qualifying places. Additionally, they are set to face Juventus in the two-legged semi-finals of the Italian Cup next month.
