I AM SURE SOME OF YOU WILL REMEMBER THIS…
The year was 2000 and the place Minna, Niger State. The governor at the time was Engr A. Kure. This present democratic dispensation was not even up to a year old when some Northern governors (especially that of Niger and Zamfara) began to forcefully move the adoption of the Sharia Law.
It would interest you to know that this law has always been there and effective in most of the Northern states. But why these governors carried the matter on their heads was best known to them. But the discerning knew it was all for a selfish political interest. But promoting Sharia isn’t my issue here and will never be. I have great respect for everyone, their backgrounds and religion not withstanding. Ita loves all men.
Mr Kure reeled out policies that negatively affected most people especially those of the Christian faith. The sons of the soil of Nupe, Gbagyi and other minority tribes were not spared. Most jobs and contracts were not given to the ones who merited and deserved it but to the ones who were muslims especially of his own sect (the Izalas).
There was an outcry in the city, Christians and churches lost their lands and properties and those with original C of O (certificate of Occupancy) were asked to reapply. Some of these ones regained their lands but a remeasured smaller portions while others were given lands in the outskirts of town. At this point being a Christian and practising the faith almost became a risk in Minna. Outdoor evangelism was restricted and so many unnecessary rules were brought in.
CAN (Christian Association Of Nigeria) Minna branch called for a three days fast. Every pastor was to pray about the matter in their various congregations. We the pastors set aside our personal agenda and led our congregations to pray as one, and pray we did.
On the final day of the prayer and fasting there was a heavy down pour of rain upon Minna city. It had never happened before in the history of Minna; it was strange (because we were still in the harmattan season and unlike the south of Nigeria rain in the North is very respectful, religious and follows a strict protocol and itinerary ????). But this was the confirmation we needed that our God had answered in righteousness.
Off the radar and camera on this same day the governor slumped mysteriously in his house and had to be rushed to Germany for treatment. The man came back from Germany a changed man and reversed a few policies that were against the Church. Who sey God nor dey hear prayer?
Now to my point, if we the Church in Nigeria can just put aside our denominational titles, personal agenda, selfish interests, selfish visions, unnecessary insecurities, prolonged vendetta against each other, carnal pursuits, unspiritual mandates, ugly pride, individual manmade idols and pray as ONE and with ONE VOICE for our beloved Nigeria according to God’s will and within the provisions of the Word of God this month, things will change for the best sooner than we expect.
We serve a living God – the Only Living God.
Jesus Christ is Lord over Nigeria and the whole earth!!!
Pls sacrifice just 1 or 2mins to PRAY this prayers :
*#Any Nigerian politician who received a single Christian vote to come to power and yet is a sponsor of Jihad against Christians, a sponsor of elimination or subjugation of Christians in Nigeria – must not finish his term in office.*
*#We withdraw his mandate – in the name of Jesus!*
*#Let his seat reject him*.
*#We invoke the blood of the innocent to speak against him;*
*#We invoke the tears of the fatherless and widows to speak against him.#*
Let us with one voice cry to Heaven in this respect – for only one or two minutes.
If you support this move, do your praying now and then send it out massively. Children of God are Precious people. We have a destiny to fulfil on earth. God did not create us to be wasted by evil men. That is why He defends Israel and fight for them. If we don’t cry to Him for deliberate intervention, we would continue to suffer. Pls use every available means and platforms to pass this on to every christian you know.
God bless you.
