Terhemba Tyochivir, a 17-year-old secondary school student, is said to have killed himself in Akpehe, a neighborhood of the Benue State capital Makurdi.
On September 21, 2023, a pupil at Government Secondary School, Gboko, committed suicide.
Tyochivir, according to witnesses, was found unresponsive and was quickly taken to Bishop Murray Hospital in Makurdi, where he was later confirmed dead.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, SP. Catherine Anene, a spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed the event and stated that it had been reported to the Makurdi E Division Police Station.
