The International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety), a human rights organization, has pressed military and police authorities in Enugu to explain the alleged Monday summary execution of three youths from Ezioha-Mgbowo in the state’s Awgu local government area.
The youngsters were slain during a combination military-police operation.
The deceased were murdered after a gunfight with security officers in the early hours of Monday, according to a statement by the command’s spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe.
82 Division, Nigerian Army, and Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone 13 to step in and conduct a thorough investigation into the alleged unlawful death in order to hold negligent officers accountable.
The group demanded that the security chiefs pursue the murderous herdsmen terrorizing Enugu State “or retire from the army and police”.
According to Intersociety’s fact-checks, which included contacts with trustworthy sources in Mgbowo, Awgu, the circumstances leading to the killings, including their timing, legal basis, and operational basis, have been mired in controversy.
“Intersociety is therefore strongly condemning the two dastardly acts and calls on the Nigerian Police, the Nigerian Military and the Jihadist herdsmen and other Jihadist fighting parties laying siege to the South-East to respect the dignity of the human person and sanctity of human life.
