Man Arrested For Raping His Stepdaughter, 13, Multiple Times In Akwa Ibom

A man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 13-year-old stepdaughter in Akwa Ibom state.

Joseph Sunday Essien, 45, is accused of sexually abusing Patience
Edet Edem on 4 different occasions. The girl reported to her mother but
the woman didn’t believe the child. She only believed when she caught
him in the act.

The mother, who has two children for the suspect, reported her husband to the police after making the shocking discovery.

The State Police Commissioner, Musa Kimo, while parading the suspect
said that the father carried out the last heinous act on January 13,
2019.

The mother of the victim, who married the suspect after the death of
her former husband – the father of the victim – said that her recent
husband left her in their bedroom on the day of the final abuse and
snuck into the girl’s room to rape her.

She described her husband as wicked and vowed never to return to their home.

However, the suspect denied the allegations. While speaking to
newsmen, he said his wife and her daughter made up the allegation as a
result of issues they had.
