Marouane Fellaini has had his afro removed and football fans have been left stunned with the result. The tall Manchester United midfielder has been instantly recognisable throughout his career with the afro.
He posted some photos onto his Twitter account after having the chop, writing: “New year, new look” before adding that it his his “birthday tomorrow”.
And the Belgian’s new look appears to have split opinion with footie fans.
The Belgian is entering his sixth season in Manchester following his five-year spell at Everton, having committed his future to the club amidst speculation in the summer.
The towering midfielder has often been Jose Mourinho’s go-to option from the bench for United, giving them a more direct option when chasing a game or to defend long balls forward when holding a lead.
“[I’m] a player who knows his qualities. I know what I can do, and what I can’t,” he said to Manchester United’s official website.

Mourinho has showered his impact substitute with praise this season, saying: “I am very happy with him. He is one of the players that has improved from last season. He’s playing well in different positions.
“You can feel his commitment, his heart and his happiness to be at the club, and to stay at the club, and to play for the club. Clearly, he is showing that famous thing of the team being more important than one of us and he has sacrificed himself for the team.

“He is being more defensive in some matches and then being almost like a striker in others. I’m really happy with Marouane’s stability and performances. He is giving us quality and simplicity. He is playing simple and well.”
