A serious clash between members of the Motorcycle union in Calabar and security personnel attached to the Cross River state governor’s office – left a member of the union dead.
Angered by their member’s
death, some of the cyclists stormed the governors office in Calabar,
broke doors and dumped the corpse of the dead man in front of the office
main entrance.
The protesters, wielding sticks and clubs alleged
that the deceased gave up on the way to the hospital after he was
brutalised by the men of the Taskforce on Special Services, Governors
Office.
It was alleged that incident occurred around Four Miles area of Ikot Ansa in the state capital.
Reacting
to the event, the Police Public Relation Officer for the state, Mr
Irene Ugbo said the late motorcyclist fell from his bike while being
pursued by the taskforce and became unconscious.
