“My father sent me $120k from the grave, 29 years after his death” – Seun Kuti

Afrobeat singer and activist Seun Kuti has sparked widespread online reactions following a blunt response to critics questioning his relevance and family legacy.

The outspoken musician addressed the criticism in a viral video, where he defended his achievements and invoked the enduring influence of his late father, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

In the clip, Seun ridiculed those who downplay his success, saying many fail to understand the meaning of lasting accomplishment.

“I just collected 120,000 US dollars based on my papa’s name. Not my work. Just because I am Fela’s child,” he said.

He stressed that Fela died 29 years ago, adding, “How many of una father fit send una money from the grave 29 years later?”

“You don’t know what it means to be the child of somebody who accomplished something, because your fathers never accomplished anything,” he stated.
