Nasarawa FA Board Member Abducted

In a sad turn of events, Alh Ismaila Konga, the Chairman of the Organising Committee for the Akwanga zone of the ALGON/Engr AA Sule Unity football competition and a board member of the Nasarawa State Football Association has been abducted.

According to reports, Mr Konga successfully prosecuted yesterday’s match in his zone and was on his way to his country home in Andaha in Akwanga LG when he fell victim to kidnappers. The Association has expressed deep sadness at the situation and offers sincere prayers for his safe return from the hands of his abductors.

Haladu Akwashiki, Chairman of the Competition and Vice Chairman of the Football Association announced the adoption of Mr Konga during a press briefing. “He is the chairman organising committee of the Akwanga zone at the ongoing ALGON/ENGR A A Sule inter-local government unity football competition,” he said.

The Association has postponed the MD3/final fixture of the Akwanga Zone between Nasarawa Eggon LG and Akwanga LG until further notice as a show of solidarity with Mr Konga and his family. The Association also calls on all football stakeholders and fans in the state to join in prayers for his safe release.

The incident has caused concern amongst the football community in Nasarawa State, and the Association has urged the relevant authorities to take swift action to ensure his safe and speedy release. The Association also assured the football community that it will continue to work towards ensuring the safety and security of all stakeholders and fans of the game in the state.

The entire football community in Nasarawa State is hopeful for Mr Konga’s safe return, and we pray for his quick and safe release. It said.

The police are yet to make a statement as of the time of filing this report.

According to the police PRO, DSP, Ramhan Nansel had said in a conversation with our correspondent that no report was made in respect to the incident. But stressed that the police would deploy every means to rescue the victim should adequate information is obtained.
