Akpofure felt it was important to give back to society while he was in Warri because he spent a lot of time with his warden mother in the prisons as a child.
He appeared in front of the correctional facility with the warden and other jail personnel for the photo that was uploaded to his Instagram account. Boxes of food and supplies for the convicts were in front of them.
He explained, “I couldn’t have gone to my hometown of Warri without going back to the Nigerian Correctional Service. I had a soft place for some of these convicts as I was growing up and lived inside prisons because my mother was a warden, especially after hearing some of their accounts of how life handed them a poor hand.
