By:- Tunde Opalana, Abuja
A youth group, Youth Alive Atiku Campaign Organisation, said the future of Nigeria is assured if a government that knows how to harness the potentials of the teeming youthful population comes to power.
The group emphasised the need for Nigeria to elect a president who can tap into the available human resources of the nation’s youthful population to give the country an expected future. Speaking with The Daily Times at a one day convention of the organisation in Abuja on Wednesday, the National Coordinator of Youth Alive Atiku Campaign Organisation, Uko Miracle lamented the relegation of the Nigerian youths to the background due to harsh economic situation that prevented them from being gainfully employed while several millions of them have lost jobs in recent years.
Uko Miracle Said:-
The organisation is pre-occupied with the task of ensuring that the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar wins the February 16 Presidential election. Miracle expressed optimism in the ability of the former Vice President to transform the huge potentials of the teeming Nigerian youths into economic gains. He said Atiku, being a successful businessman, employer of labour, public administrator and politician of repute can bring about the expected future for the country by engaging the youths. “To achieve this, our body, the Youth Alive Atiku Campaign Organisation and other youth organisations are doing door to door grass root mobilisation for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. ” We shall continue to work tirelessly until Atiku emerges as Nigeria’s next president because we know that with Atiku in the saddle as Nigeria’s president, poverty that is ravaging the land will be eradicated, rate of unemployment will be drastically reduced and jobs will be created while small and medium scale businesses will be enabled”, he said. He added that “it is pertinent that all support groups intensify campaign and work together towards achieving a single task of electing Atiku come February 16”. The National Coordinator said saving Nigeria from socio- political and economic collapse is the responsibility of all concerned Nigerians especially the youths. He said “there is the need to change the narrative by voting a man with vision, a job creator, a successful businessman and an experienced administrator in person of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar on the platform of the PDP to steer the ship of the country which is presently going astray. “Nigeria need a government that will give future to the youth”, he said.
