‘Okorocha Selling Imo Government’s Property’ — Imo Deputy Governor, PDP

Okorocha Selling Imo Govt’s Property — Deputy Gov, PDP Alleges

The
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State has raised the alarm that
Governor Rochas Okorocha is selling government properties since after
losing election, Igbere TV reports.

Similarly, Imo State Deputy
Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, have again raised the alarm that
government vehicles and equipment are either being moved to undisclosed
places or ordered to be auctioned.

While the PDP, through its
State Secretary, Nze Ray Emeana, distributed documentary evidence to
journalists in Owerri yesterday, the deputy governor released a
statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Uche Onwuchekwa,
which contained the memo earlier issued by the Imo State government
announcing the auctioning of vehicles. The statement was made available
to Igbere TV on Thursday.

According to the document,
SGI/S.00500/T.2/212, no fewer than 71 vehicles, including Toyota Hilux,
Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Camry, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Prado and
Toyota Hiace are being auctioned by the Imo State government.

Part
of the memo reads: “Sales of unserviceable vehicles”, signed by Mrs.
Ukaigwe Julia, for the Secretary to the Government of Imo State, read:
“I am directed to refer to Government House letter No SGI/S.0011/T.4/X
dated 23 November, 2018, on the above subject and inform you that His
Excellency, Owelle (Dr.) Rochas Okorocha, has appointment (sic) His
Royal Highness, Eze (Dr.) M. U. Osakwe, Nnachi of Amannachi, all as the
Auctioneer for the 71 unserviceable vehicles shown on the attached list.

“I
am further directed to request that you accord him unfettered access to
the items as listed. Your necessary cooperation is humbly solicited in
this regard, while assuring you the best wishes of the Secretary to the
Government of Imo State, please.”

Another document dated February
16, 2019, originating from Ochiedike Medical and Dialysis Centre, and
obtained by Igbere TV, sought approval for valuation of abandoned
vehicles.

The memo addressed to the Commissioner for Works reads:
“Sequel to the directives and recovery of certain number of abandoned
scrap vehicles in our premises, they are merely body carcass without
engines, thus, nuisance and eye sore. We hereby, do invite your office
to come, inspect and conduct valuation for necessary action. Your
response to this urgent matter is appreciated.”

The PDP State
Secretary however maintained that “although these mails were backdated
to suit their illegal design to emasculate the new administration, all
actions took place last week”.

He warned people against buying any government property “because the Emeka Ihedioha administration will recover all of them”.

Meanwhile,
the Deputy Governor has accused Governor Rochas Okorocha of
surreptitiously moving the generator serving his office to an
undisclosed place, without his knowledge.

Onwuchekwa described Okorocha’s action as “wicked and intentionally hatched with a motive of rendering the Office of the Deputy Governor ineffective and to administratively stagnate it to the extent of making it incapable of attending to its constitutional roles.”
