Paul Amaechi, a farmer in Osun State, was taken into custody by a joint security team made up of members of the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. The reason for the arrest was the herder’s alleged murder, whose identity was not immediately known, for allegedly letting his cattle graze on his property in Telemu village.
There are growing suspicions that Amaechi was involved in the deceased’s death after it was reported that the herder’s disfigured body was discovered on his property on Thursday.
Adeleke, however, went on to say that a herder who claimed to have seen the attack that killed the victim complained to a police station in Orile Owu. He claimed that cattle had earlier grazed on Ameachi’s land, which forced him and other local farmers to lay in wait for them.
