PDP Alleges Ruling Party Jittery Ahead Of 2019 Election

  • Ademola Adeleke

• Adeleke’s group, ADP task voters on credible choice of candidate The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is jittery ahead of the September 22 governorship poll. PDP’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Diran Odeyemi, said this in a statement. He said the rate at which “true patriots and critical stakeholders in the affairs of the state,” are moving out of the party has created fear in the ranks of the APC.”

The PDP advised the ruling party and its “collaborators” to perish the thought of rigging the poll, adding that Osun people have not hidden their resolve to protect their votes, even at the risk of their lives. It also warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies not to submit to pressure from the ruling party to rig the poll.“APC would eventually turn whoever joins it to rig the poll to a ‘sacrificial lamb.’

The PDP also congratulated all old PDP members who are returning to the party, after sojourning in the APC.The statement also implored other people in the fold of the ruling party, with genuine interest of the state at heart, to join efforts aimed at putting a stop to the continued “annexation of Osun to Lagos.“We however warn the party that Osun indigenes and the entire PDP family across the country will not allow rigging, as it was done in Ekiti State.

Meanwhile, Adeleke Support Group, has pleaded with the electorate to vote for a credible candidate in the poll. Its Secretary, Emmanuel Adewopo, urged the people to focus on issues that would develop the state, rather than allowing politicians to buy their conscience with money.

Adewopo advised the people to avoid diversionary tactics designed by some political parties to bury real issues at stake to exploit voters’ weaknesses. He lamented the pains of pensioners, the unacceptably high public debt, the highly inflated capital projects in alleged fund movement to Lagos, as well as the neglect of critical heath sector.

He disclosed: “Informal surveys across the 30 local council areas have confirmed that Osun voters want a solution provider and prosperity booster. “They hate sadists, inhuman leaders and looters of treasury. The gravitation towards political light is open and clear. That political light that possesses all the requisite attributes of a philanthropist is no other person than Adeleke.”Similarly, the candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Moshood Adeoti, said Osun needs a new direction, if it must develop beyond what it is currently.

However, state APC spokesman, Kunle Oyatomi, told The Guardian that the ruling party remains the opponent to beat in the contest. Oyatomi dismissed the PDP and ADP as incapable of beating the APC in the upcoming contest.
