Two first-half goals from Athletic Bilbao was enough to see off the defending Champion of the tournament of the Spanish Super Cup on Thursday at the La Romerada Stadium in Malaga.
Raul Garcia scored a brace to give Bilbao a-two -goal lead after 38 minutes of play, he scored the opener in the 18th minute and he converted from the spot-kick in the 38th minute.
Though Real Madrid scored via Karim Benzema in the 73rd minute it was not enough to stage a comeback as Bilbao sat back and defended deeply for the entire minute left to be played.
The game ended 2-1 as Bilbao progress to the final to play Barcelona on Sunday.
