A pregnant woman and her children were involved in a fatal accident said to have been caused by a reckless tipper driver in Anambra.
According
to reports, the tipper ran into the woman and her four children on a
motorcycle on Thursday, 24th January 2019, along Igwe Orizu road in
Nnewi, Anambra state and crushed them to death.
Two of the children were reportedly killed while the other two are said to be battling for their lives at the hospital.
It was gathered that the tipper driver fled the scene immediately after the fatal accident.
According
to Rev’d Festus E. Chukwudiegwu, when a tipper driver kills someone,
their Union will go to the police, settle the issue and then give the
bereaved family 200,000 for the deceased and the next day, the vehicle
is taken to work again by the same driver.
Residents are calling
on the state government to do something about tipper drivers and enforce
strict punishments for defaulters.
