A very old tweet, which he sent out some years ago, has come back to haunt Donald Trump Jr, son of the outgoing US president, Donald Trump.
In 2016, Trump Jr. posted a tweet mocking Bill and Hillary Clinton, as Bill was impeached by the House of Representatives during his time in office.
The tweet from Trump Jr. reads: “Dear Clintons, You know what’s deplorable? Being Impeached!!!!”
That tweet was posted before Donald Trump Sr. and Hillary Clinton went head-to-head in the 2016 election. It was a reference to Clinton calling Trump supporters a “basket of deplorables.”
Bill Clinton became the second U.S. president to be impeached in 1998 on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice. He was censured by the Senate.
The tweet is ironic given that this week President Trump was impeached for the second time following a violent uprising at the U.S. Capitol last week as the House of Representatives charged him with inciting.
