On Monday, October 2, 2023, Kuti said via his Instagram live session that he does not wish to be associated with the current inquiries into the unexpected death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, 27, also known as Mohbad. He expressed his frustration and said he didn’t want to get involved in anything with the police.
He continued by criticizing Nigerian “keypad warriors” and stating that their efforts to get him tried for slapping a police officer in May 2023 nearly destroyed his career. Kuti continued by saying that he was attempting to defend his family and himself and that no one had shown concern at the time.
