History was created by Lamine Yamal by becoming the youngest scorer in a men’s European Championship, as Spain narrowly defeated France 2-1 to secure a place in Sunday’s Euro 2024 final.
France took an early lead within 10 minutes when Randal Kolo Muani headed in Kylian Mbappé’s cross. However, Spain quickly equalized thanks to a remarkable long-range strike from 16-year-old Yamal.
Just minutes later, Dani Olmo added another spectacular goal to give Spain the lead, which they defended resolutely until the final whistle.
Yamal, who earned the man of the match award for his performance, will celebrate his 17th birthday the day before the final and expressed his desire to still be in Germany for the occasion, stating that reaching this milestone is his goal.
Tuesday’s victory also marks Spain as the first team to win six consecutive matches in a single European Championship tournament.
