[STORY]:- The Blind Alley – Episode 12
It took me approximately 1hour, 38minutes to arrive Enugu. Finding my way to Bro. Mathew’s school wasn’t very hard just as he had told me it wouldn’t.
The entire atmosphere in his school was so serene. I could barely hear any noise not minding the amount of students in the school.
Some of the seminarians were busy at the reception with either their parents, guardians or friends.
All these i discovered within the first few minutes of my arrival.
Everything felt different. These guys are so neat, so organised and disciplined.
Wowww….
Finally, i’m going to see my Semi…..
I reached out to my handbag to get my phone as to call Bro. Mathew and discovered that i had flat battery…… Gooooosh!!!
Unfortunately, i didn’t even know the full name of Bro. Mathew as i stood there mopping in despair.
“Are you looking for someone?, ” a young dark seminarian who had been sitting idly at the lounge with me asked after noticing how unease i was becoming.
” Yes, ” i am looking for… Eeeeeh…., ” i stuttered as i couldn’t even know the name to call to him”.
“Calm down, dear,” he told me as he asked me to try describing the person to him or maybe his class.
“Bro. Mathew did his apostolic work at St.Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Obosi,”i tried explaining extensively.
He stood there gawking….my explanations couldn’t yield much fruits.
He later asked if his nickname was, ”Ororo”. That name didn’t sound familiar so i told him i didn’t know as my frustration was exponentially increasing.

That young man was really a nice man as he decided to go and make some enquiries for me with the little explanations i made.
After some minutes, he returned with “Ororo” and behold, it was my Semi……
Bro. Mathew ran towards me and held me so tight for few seconds….
My breath almost seized….cold shivers ran down my spine…my hands were cold and another lil tear of joy dropped as i unbelievably held my crush once again..
The good samaritan seminarian stood there watching the little melo drama before he separated us with his nasty cough to indicate his presence……
“Oh, Stephen,” meet my good friend, Obioma. I lived in their house during my apostolic work at Obosi, “he tried explaining to his friend who seemed rather surprised to see us hugging like mocking birds.
” You’re most welcome dear, hope you brought some home made delicacies for us?, “he teased me before leaving us in peace.
” eheeen… Semi, is your name”Ororo”?, what does that mean?, “i queried him as he picked my little handbag ?and headed towards the main hall.
He giggled before saying yes….” ororo” is my nickname as i”am a good player.. I mean good footballer who scores so many goals and thus nicknamed after the great Cristiano Ronaldo.
I have no interest in football and didn’t even know whom the main “Ororo” is so i cared less as i held him so tight by the hand as we walked down the stairs.
Bro. Mathew quickly introduced me to his personal friends, including the young man that received my call the day i called him for the first time.
It was really a free day for them as they all looked really free.
I was a bit relaxed as it wasn’t really what i was expecting that i saw…..
I didn’t expect such a lax atmosphere…. To God be the glory!
We spent much time at the lawn tennis court discussing, we would talk about almost everything. It spanned through how i did my matriculation and school life to how he is coping.
Little did i notice that time had passed. It was already getting late as i panicked.
Mathew seemed more relaxed.
“isn’t high time i started going home?, i asked him.
It’s already late dear, i wouldn’t want to endanger your life by allowing you travel by night,” he replied.
Don’t worry, “i would take you to a family friend’s house inside town, you would pass the night there.
Oh my God…!!! whose house? What would i be doing there?
I became a bit worried but he reassured me i was safe…..
” Wait for me let me quickly get my wallet so we leave immediately, he told me before retiring to his room……
My heart beat kept pounding rhythmically …!!!
God please save me….
What could be Obiọma’s fate in a strange land ?
