How would she act in the presence of this daredevils? How can people be this wicked and heartless? How can he do this to his own children? No wonder when she had a girl he was more excited. She downloaded the videos and saved them in a flash. She gave it to her mother for safe keeping. Luckily, their international passports and their American passports were in her Bank.

On her way back home, she reminisced on her initial suspicions; his refusal for Mercy to date at 25, his constant stay in her room, his insistence that she takes care of the home, his refusal to have a maid work with them, his refusal for Mercy to travel alone etc. Ah! This was what her mother in-law was talking about. She decided to visit a man of God to make sense of this issue and be delivered from it.

When she resumed work, she asked her colleague who joined her in prayer previously to refer her to a powerful man of God. She met with the man of God. What he told her offended her.

“My dear sister, you cannot mention this outside. A whole village can be ostracized by this revelation. They will fight you to finish if you reveal this. You should have investigated the family before getting married. There are so many spiritual manipulations happening there. This won’t affect you. Hopefully, it won’t affect your children. Other women have more severe problems. Some women complain their husbands beat them, some complain he womanizes with different women, some are the breadwinners of the home. Your case although peculiar is mild. He still wants you to live with him. I would advise you to just pray about it and ask God to separate them so you could have your marriage back.”

She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Living with incest under the same roof? What if her son and daughter begin to practice this? She reminded him that it was an abomination punishable by death in the Old Testament but he told her that this was a well-guarded family secret and she was not in the position to expose it. The forces that would be against her will be much. He told her the incest was the source of wealth for the father so he would guard it jealously and the man will fight back. A man that had died and was buried since. She didn’t believe him.

She remembered hearing about her father in-law. According to sources that knew him, he was very kind and generous. His children didn’t visit often but he didn’t look like the description been offered by the man of God. He was very religious and an elder in his church. She was not buying the story.

What will she do? Continue to pray for them? She couldn’t stand them, she couldn’t even look at them. The sight she saw had stuck in her head. Her dreams were being shattered. She was the wife every woman dreamed of. This price was too high for her to pay. It would have been easier if it was someone outside, she would have forgiven him easily but for it to be his sister was a no no. Worse still, he had nerve to claim she was seeing things. She waited for a month and then she asked her husband for a divorce.

“It is obvious you love your sister more than you love me. I feel I can’t make you happy. If I leave, both of you can continue your lives without interference. I think is it better that way.”

“If you insist on leaving, I don’t mind but if you will leave just the way you came. You can’t go with anything I got for you. You also can’t leave with my children. That is it. If you agree; I will free you.”

“Ah Roy, you can’t do this to me. I am willing to leave everything you ever gave me behind but let me go with my children. I swear and promise you today that nobody will hear about what happens here. Please I am begging you.”

“I have given you my condition. It is either you stay and allow things to be the way they were or you leave with nothing. I will hunt you down if you try to escape with my children. I will wipe out your entire family if you ever try that. I have told you what I want. I still love you. We will continue as we were before.”

Roy beefed up security around the house. She was not allowed to leave home with the kids. He gave an instruction in the school that she couldn’t pick them from the school. She was trapped and confused. She didn’t know what to do.

She was hatched a plan. Lucky, the travel documents were not within his reach. She studied him closely.

Her decision to leave with her children was greater heightened she heard her son say, “My sister is very sweet.” She almost jumped out of her skin. Those words made in cringe in disgust. She calmed down and asked him what he meant.   She asked,

“What do you mean by your sister is sweet?”

He innocently replied, “Dad always says his sister is sweet each time she’s on top of him.”

Jacinta cried. She could see clearly that her children were systematically being introduced to the abomination. Mitch also said his father told him that no one can love him like his sister.  That was the last straw. She put her plan into immediate action.
