James Onoja, the council chairman of Kogi State’s Igalamela Local Government Area, is supposedly under arrest by security personnel on Saturday for allegedly having a large amount of cash and weaponry on him.
A number of “Ghana-must-go” bags held the collected cash and ammunition.
It was stated that the ammunition and cash were intended for use during the election.
The council chairman and his group may be seen in a widely shared video apologizing and asking for forgiveness.
At the time this article was filed, William Ovye, the Police Public Relations Officer for Kogi State, had not responded to any inquiries.
