The United States have commended the Nigerian Police for arresting two members of a trans-national kidnap syndicate involved in the kidnap of an American Citizen, Philippe Nathan Walton.
Walton was on October 28,2020 , kidnapped at his farm in Masalata Village, Republic of Niger.
The two suspects, Aliyu Abdullahi, M, 21, and Aliyu Umaru, M, 23, both from Sokoto State, were arrested on November 25, 2020.
In a tweet, the United States Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Tibor Naggy, wrote;
We applaud the Nigerian Police Force for successfully pursuing the ring that kidnapped an American citizen in October. The arrests of two of his kidnappers demonstrate our shared interest in stemming kidnapping and other forms of violence in Nigeria.
