A medium truck was dumping diesel into another tanker when the fire broke out, according to an eyewitness who spoke to our correspondent under condition of anonymity.
The driver of the tanker that arrived to pick up the diesel and his helper were said to be among those who were thought to be deceased from the tragedy.
The burning tanker and the Ogun State Fire Service firefighters who arrived to put out the fire were observed by our correspondent on his visit to the filling station, which was formerly known as NIPCO. To maintain order, a few police officers and representatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense agencies were also present.
