US warns citizens of possible terror threats in Nigeria

The United States government has issued a security alert warning its citizens in Nigeria about a possible terrorist threat targeting American facilities and schools linked to the US.
In a notice released on Monday, March 9, the US urged Americans in Nigeria to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures.
“The US embassy in Abuja informs US citizens of a possible terrorist threat against US facilities and US affiliated schools in Nigeria,” the notice stated.
The embassy also advised Americans to strengthen personal security awareness, avoid predictable routines and review safety measures with their families in order to reduce potential risks.
The advisory did not specify the origin of the threat or identify any group believed to be responsible.
The warning comes amid heightened global tensions following recent military actions involving the United States, including the ongoing security situation linked to the conflict between Israel and Iran, which has triggered broader international security alerts.
It also follows the Christmas Day bombings by the US military targeting jihadist groups in northern Nigeria amid conversations about a Christian genocide in Nigeria.
