DIVINE EMERGENCY
“And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.” (Mark 10: 46)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
Our Focal Scripture speaks of when Jesus came to Jericho and left immediately with his disciples and multitudes following him. Jesus came to Jericho, nothing was said of his stay in Jericho; but the next thing was that he was leaving already. He stepped into Jericho and it seemed that there was an emergency that drove Him to leave.
As Jesus left Jericho, mention was made of blind Bartimaeus, who later received his healing through Jesus. Jesus left in a hurry, and the first beneficiary of His haste was blind Bartimaeus. Jesus seemed to leave in a hurry because the story of Bartimaeus needed to change urgently. There was a divine urgency in Jesus’ movement, which worked in the favour of Bartimaeus.
Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: a divine emergency is being declared concerning that situation in your life that needs to change immediately. God is in a hurry to turn things around in your family and marriage; God is in a hurry to change the story in your career and business; God is in a hurry to roll away the opposition that has hindered your progress; God is in a hurry to make new things happen so that you can smile again.
Bartimaeus had been blind for a long time, and Jesus wouldn’t delay His miracle anymore. Get set: for every challenge that has lingered, the solution will come in a hurry. God will handle your issues like an emergency, all protocols broken. Jesus is aware of the issues that shouldn’t remain for one more day; He knows the miracles that can’t wait.
Psalm 38: 22 says: “Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.”
Declare With Me: My situation is a divine emergency; God will show up in a hurry, in Jesus’ name!
