Xavi Set to Continue as Barcelona Head Coach Beyond Current Season

During a press conference, Barcelona president Joan Laporta expressed his longstanding desire for Xavi to continue leading the team beyond the current season, despite the 44-year-old’s announcement in January of his intention to depart from the club.

Xavi guided Barcelona to the La Liga title in his inaugural full season as manager last year. Subsequently, he inked a two-year contract extension, committing to stay at the helm until at least June 2025.

This season has posed greater challenges for Barcelona, as they currently sit second in the table, trailing Real Madrid by 11 points. Additionally, they suffered a setback in the Champions League, being eliminated after a second-leg collapse against Paris Saint-Germain last week. In El Clásico on Sunday, Barcelona lost 3-2, with Jude Bellingham scoring a goal for Real Madrid in the 91st minute.
