West Ham are willing to pay £15million to sign Wales midfielder Joe Allen from Stoke City.

David Moyes is committed to strengthening his midfield during the January transfer window and wants to sign one or more players with Premier League experience.
However, relegation-threatened Stoke responded to the Hammers enquiry by saying that Allen, 27, is not for sale at any price.

Allen has played in all but two of Stoke’s Premier League matches this season and has contributed three goals and five assists across all competitions.
Under-pressure Stoke manager Mark Hughes spoke about the Allen rumours last week, saying: ‘We can’t afford to lose a player of Joe’s quality.
‘He is working exceptionally hard for us and we are really pleased with what he is producing for us at the moment.

‘We won’t be encouraging any bids for any of our key players, especially not in January, that is for certain.’

The Potters are currently in 16th position in the Premier League table, two places and two points ahead of West Ham, who occupy the final relegation place.
Hughes would be incredibly reluctant to allow Allen, capped 40 times for Wales, to leave to a fellow relegations.
