3 Die In Cult Clashes In Ajah And Ikorodu

Some lives have been lost at Ajah as well as Ikorodu following a cult clash. Three persons have been killed in separate cult clashes in the Ikorodu and Ajah areas of Lagos State.

Some lives have been lost at Ajah as well as Ikorodu following a cult clash.

Three persons have been killed in separate cult clashes in the Ikorodu and Ajah areas of Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro gathered that one of the victims was killed on the Igbogbo-Igbe Road last Thursday around 11pm.

His corpse was said to have been evacuated around 1.17pm on Friday by police personnel from the Ijede Police Station.

Some residents of the area told our correspondent that some youths, who adorned themselves with charms, visited the scene and told them that the victim was their family member.

One of the residents, who identified herself simply as Tosin, said she had yet to go to bed when she heard loud noise, only to come out in the morning and see the corpse of a young man on the road.

She stated, “I thought some people had a misunderstanding and had gone their separate ways as we didn’t hear their noise again.

“But in the morning when I woke up to go to the market, I was shocked to see the corpse of a young man on the road.

“In fact, those selling palm wine and bush meat along the road shut their shops. It was around 1.17pm when the police from Ijede came to evacuate the corpse.”

Another suspected cult member was hacked to death with machetes at Ofin in Ikorodu.

A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said some cultists were in the area where the man was killed to ascertain that he was actually dead.

At Lamgbasa in Ajah on Saturday, a cultist, who was allegedly shot by members of a rival group, was said to have been taken to hospital by the police but he died two days after.

A police source told our correspondent that since the man died, nobody had come to claim his corpse.

According to him, the police tried their best to revive him, but having been seriously injured, he did not survive the attack.

He said, “The police, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Ajah, Adaobi Okafor, tried to save the life of the injured victim of the cult attack by taking him to hospital.

“It was unfortunate that after two days in hospital, he could not survive owing to the massive loss of blood before the police arrived the scene to rescue him.

“As I am talking to you, no family member or friend has come to claim the corpse. This is a further proof that he was a cultist.”

The telephone of the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Bala Elkana, rang out when our correspondent contacted him on the matter.

He had also yet to respond to a text message sent to his mobile phone as of the time of filing this report.
