The woman who was found stabbed to death inside her home on Valentine’s Day in the UK has been identified as Naomi Hunte.

The 41-year-old was knifed inside her flat in Congleton Grove, Greenwich on Monday evening.

Metropolitan Police officers had to break down the door to get inside the property at around 8.25pm after neighbours reported hearing a woman screaming.

A post-mortem examination took place on Wednesday at Greenwich Mortuary and gave the cause of death as a single stab wound.

In the aftermath of the discovery of Ms. Hunte’s body, a neighbor, Andrew, 59, who lives in the block but did not want to be identified, said: ”’ On the night she died someone heard her screaming and the police went in. They broke down the door and found her with wounds.”

Joy Oga, 34, paid tribute to Ms. Hunte, adding: ”She was beautiful but her beauty was hidden by all the problems she had. It is heartbreaking to hear about something like this happening here.

”Last night I could not sleep, all I was doing was thinking about it. Living here is not safe.”

NHS worker Borbor Lamin Kabia, 62, had known Ms Hunte for 10 years and described her as “very quiet”.

He told the Evening Standard: “She was very nice and pretty. She said she had just got a new job in the City but I still saw her hanging around.

“I can’t believe this happened if she was in trouble she could have come to me.”

A police cordon remains in place outside the home on Congleton Grove, Plumstead while homicide detectives from Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime investigate.
