LA Galaxy striker Augustine Williams hopes his call-up by Sierra Leone to face Nigeria in a double head 2022 AFCON qualifiers will be a dream debut.

Nigeria host Leone Stars in Benin this weekend in the first meeting of the two-legged tie, but the LA Galaxy striker is already relishing the prospect of facing the star-studded Nigerians at the Ogbemudia Stadium on Friday.William has been impressive for the LA Galaxy II side this season after his 13 goals and two assists helped him finished second in the race for the Championship’s Golden Boot.In an exclusive chat with footballsierraleone, William described his invitation as the right step in the right direction, adding that the call-up is a clear indication that his hard work is beginning to pay off.

“Sierra Leone called-up is a step-up in my career. The opportunity I have been given is something I will take with a lot of pride,” Williams to FSL UK.“It is an honour to put on the Leone Stars shirt, and I am relishing the chance to be a part of Sierra Leone qualifiers. I will wear the Leone Stars shirt with a lot of pride. I am excited and happy.” he said.

Sierra Leone will be coming to Benin with the hope of causing upset or at least settled for a draw and finish up the job in Freetown against Super Eagles to remain in contention for a place in Cameroon.Sierra Leone currently sit at the bottom of the log with one point after they were humbled by Benin and drew with Lesotho in Freetown.
