‘American Idol’ alum Caleb Flynn arrested for allegedly murdering wife

A former “American Idol” auditionee has been arrested in Ohio on suspicion of murdering his wife.

Caleb Flynn, who appeared during Season 12 of American Idol in 2013, was taken into custody on Thursday, February 19, by Tipp City Police Department officers and booked into the county jail on charges of murder, felonious assault and tampering with evidence, according to official records.

Police say Flynn’s wife, 37-year-old Ashley Flynn, was found dead inside the couple’s home in Tipp City, just north of Dayton, after officers responded to a reported burglary at the residence.

According to authorities, Flynn allegedly shot his wife with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun before attempting to stage the scene to make it appear as though a break-in had occurred.

Local outlet WHIO-TV reported that dispatch logs described officers arriving at the property under the impression that a burglary suspect might still be inside, with the “garage door open.” Flynn, 32, posed for a mug shot following his arrest. He remains in custody as the case proceeds.

During his 2013 audition for “American Idol,” Flynn did not advance past the initial stages but gave an interview in which he spoke about his passion for music and his love for his wife.

Police have not released further details. The investigation is ongoing.
