Abuja – The Director General of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council and President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki yesterday berated the All Progressives Congress (APC) over call to the United States (US) not to grant Atiku Abubakar a visa.

Speaking during the first interactive session with the media, Saraki said that call by the APC was a panic action by the ruling government.

He said: “Let me go to the question of visa that was raised. I think it was a panic action by government. How does granting somebody visa mean an endorsement? it’s more like a panic action because government is panicking.”

“That is a panic reaction of a government that is scared and is worried that it is about to lose election.”

He pointed out that the ruling government is trying to see how they can make a point out of it.

Saraki said that PDP will not descend low like the ruling party, adding that they will ensure that all their campaigns are centered on issues, adding, “we are more focused and what we believe in is how the average Nigerian’s life going to be better, who is going to make that better, who is going to make the economy, who is going to make the country more secured, who is going to make the country more united?”

Saraki further said that Nigerians will vote for the person that is ready to unite the people, provide security, fix the economy and ensure that the country runs efficiently, adding that the only person with such quality is Atiku.

Taking a swipe at the APC Trader moni scheme spearheaded by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, the president of the Senate described it as a sophisticated vote buying.

He noted that the programme suddenly came up because the nation is heading to election, adding that in 2015, 2016 and 2017, such was never heard in the APC government.

“In 2015, I didn’t see the Vice President going anywhere to give anybody Trader Moni. In 2016, I didn’t see the Vice President going anywhere to give anybody Trader Moni. In 2017, I didn’t see the Vice President going anywhere to give anybody Trader Moni. But all of a sudden in 2018.

“And the worst part about it is that he goes with the Woman Leader of his party (APC), governors of his party. At least if you are going and it’s Nigerian money, you should have Woman Leader of all the parties because the money belongs to Nigeria. But all I see is APC women leaders. It is wrong, it is morally wrong.

“It equates in a way to sophisticated vote buying, because if it is not vote buying, you should have been doing it since 2015. In 2016, you didn’t go. In 2017, you didn’t go. Then all of a sudden in 2018, that is the biggest programme.

“And when you go, you carry APC governors beside you, Woman Leader of APC beside you, collecting PVCs. Nigerians are not going to be fooled by that. Anything that is not based on sincerity.”
