Atletico Madrid defender Jose Maria Gimenez fancies playing for Chelsea under the tutelage of manager Frank Lampard.
The centre back revealed this on a programme ‘Cambio de Banda’ with team-mates Santiago Arias and Hector Herrera and he revealed just how much he enjoyed watching the Blues when he was growing up.
“I really liked Frank Lampard when I was a kid,” Gimenez said when asked who his idol was.
“In Uruguay, they played the Premier League early in the morning and I always watched it, I loved the way he played.
“I would have liked to play with him, I loved that Chelsea.”
Chelsea is short of defensive options in the centre back position and Lampard is prepared to move for some reinforcement in that area.
