Attack On Police: Senators; Dino Melaye & Ben Bruce Shun Police Invitation

The Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, and his Bayelsa State counterpart, Ben Murray-Bruce, have shunned an invitation by the Nigerian Police Force in Abuja.

Nigerian Senators, Dino Melaye and Ben Murray-Bruce, who were expected at the office of the FCT Commissioner of Police for questioning by 10am, on Monday, shunned the Police invitation in connection with last week’s public protest in Abuja, and did not show up.

The Police had alleged that the federal lawmakers, were captured on camera for their active involvement in the disturbance of public peace and public safety and unlawful blockade of Shehu Shagari way for many hours thereby preventing road users’ access.

Sen Dino Melaye & Sen Ben Murray-Bruce to report to CP FCT Command by 1000hrs on Monday 8th Oct for investigation & not the IGP Monitoring Unit earlier stated

The Police also allged that they were pushing and hitting policemen in a bid to forcibly gain access to the Force Headquarters to cause damage to Police equipment and government property.

While speaking with The Nation, the FCT police spokesman, DSP Anjuguri Manzah said yesterday: “We have not seen them yet but we are keeping our fingers crossed.”
