Kevin-Prince Boateng has been officially unveiled as Barcelona’s latest recruit after sealing a surprise loan move to the Spanish champions.

The former Tottenham and Portsmouth midfielder was revealed as Barca’s pick to replace Munir El Haddadi on Monday night when he made the temporary switch from Italian side Sassuolo.

And he was all smiles on Tuesday as he pulled on the famous home strip for the first time and posed for the cameras at the Nou Camp.

Boateng also posed for selfies with fans while dressed in a suit, had a kickabout with some of the club’s youngsters and greeted club president Josep Maria Bartomeu, who was instrumental in sealing the deal.

Barca have paid the Sassuolo £1.8million to take Boateng on loan for the rest of the season. They can make the move permanent by paying a further £7m this summer.

The Spanish giants looked at a host of attackers but after ruling out Fernando Llorente, Alvaro Morata, Olivier Giroud and former Middlesbrough forward Cristhian Stuani, they moved for the Ghanaian international.

‘I’m a bit sad because I’m leaving a professionally-run club in Sassuolo and it was hard to say goodbye to everybody today, even if Barcelona are one of the biggest clubs in the world,’ Boateng told Sky Sport Italia.

‘It was a testing day, but saying goodbye to my teammates, [sporting director Giovanni] Carnevali and the coach meant so much to me.

‘I’ve got a lot of respect for this side and that is why I had to say my goodbyes in person.’

The Ghana international fits the requirements of manager Ernesto Valverde, who wanted someone with La Liga experience.

Boateng has scored goals in four different leagues including Spain, Germany, Italy and England.

He netted five goals in 15 games at Sassuolo in all competitions this season playing in a false nine position that Barcelona will want to use him when Luis Suarez is resting.

Boateng could make his debut on Wednesday when Barcelona play their first-leg Copa del Rey quarter-final against Sevilla.
